Thrive versus Survive

On January 5th, I had the privilege of going to El Salvador to build homes for 20 families who by our standards have nothing. They lived in homes of sticks, moss and mud before we built them steel-fabricated homes with three small rooms and a concrete floor. These people are barely surviving but when you meet them, their smiles and gratitude exude a thriving that draws you in. They see what they do have versus questioning what they do not have.

I want to live life like the people of El Salvador. They do not live like they are striving just to stay alive, they are living beyond their circumstances and showing me what it means to thrive. It's humbling and inspiring.

In 2018, I made a lot of changes in my life to move from surviving to thriving. In 2019, I want to continue to pursue this and share my journey with you. As a life-learner, I listen to and/or read at least one book a week. I am always writing my take-aways in my spiral bound notebooks but now I want to share them because I know it will help me be more purposeful in applying them to my own life. I hope together we can be challenged to Thrive versus merely Survive this amazing life we have been given.
