Do you want to be a leaders who knows the secret? I wish this wasn't considered a secret! Great leaders serve.
Ken Blanchard is one of my favourite authors on leadership. In his book, The Secret- What Great Leaders Know and Do, he shares, "Great leaders don't become great in a moment- or in a month or a year. They become great leaders one day at a time throughout their lifetime. You'd never finish. You'll never completely arrive. You'd constantly and continuously find new ways to serve, and every time you do, your leadership skills will improve and you'll become a better leader." (P.29)
So the secret is to never give up serving. Leadership is not about a title or position, it is about influencing others through your own actions. Serving leaders distinguish themselves through pursuing these five key practices:
S- See the future (Vision)
E- Engage and develop others (People)
R- Reinvent continuously (Improvement)
V- Value results and relationships (Success)
E- Embody the values (Credibility)
For World Book Day today, this is a book I would recommend you read.
